general
information on scents
NOTES ON SCENTS.
Essence oils consist of various synthetic and natural raw materials with different
molecular weights.
Scents sensed at high notes are the raw materials with the lightest molecular
weights.
Top Note : Scents sensed within the first 10-15 minutes after
the spraying. Middle Note : Scents sensed within the first 15 minutes - 1
hour
after the spraying. Base Note : Scents sensed within 1 hour after the spraying.
PERMANENCE
. Perfumes should be sprayed to body parts with high body temperature for permanence
scent.
. Those parts are the articulations of our body such as wrists, ear-backs,
kneecaps and necks.
SEASONAL FACTORS
. Light fragrances such as fresh, aquatic, ozone and floral scents should be
selected in the summer.
. In winter, strong fragrances such as spicy, oriental or tree scents may be
preferred.
SKIN - RELATED DIFFERENCES
. Perfume permanence changes from one skin type to another.
. Dark color skins are generally oily and the perfume volatiles harder since
the oily layer retains the essence oil within the perfume.
. On light color skins, since the oily layer is thinner, the essence molecules
cannot be retained and volatile.
. A recently conducted research shows that scents are more permanent on rough
skin parts relatively to the smooth parts.
